Coviñas (Requena)

Coviñas is a cooperative society started its activities in 1965, bringing together growers of various cooperatives in the region. Nowadays Coviñas exports 85% of its production to more than 25 countries. Its wines are produced and bottled according to traditional systems and incorporating new technologies.
The varieties of grapes produced by COVIÑAS are in reds Reds: Bobal, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah; and Chardonnay in Whites. They distribute wines under Utiel-Requena DO.
Some of the national and international awards received by Coviñas Challenge International Du Vin de Burdeos, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, IWC, Decanter World Wines, Premios Bacchus, Premios Mezquita, Premios Manojo, etc.

Tour

“Requena: a land with a millenary wine tradition”
We will start the tour by visiting the agri-food cooperative COVIÑAS where the wine experts will explain us all the procedures related to the elaboration/aging of the wine and we will enjoy a guided wine tasting. Later we will walk on a guided visit around the city center of Requena, declared Property of Cultural Interest. We will finish the tour with a meal based on traditional products.

Destination

The county Requena-Utiel is internationally knwon thanks to its quality wines.
More than one hundred wineries live from viticulture in the D.O. Utiel-Requena, and the culture of wine is the heart and soul of the region. It was an important strategic enclave during the Middle Ages. Its old town has been declared Property of Cultural Interest.
