The Agri-food cooperative from Relleu is mainly dedicated to the production of almonds of the variety called “marcona”. Marcona almonds are a special product of the province of Alicante and they have a softer and somewhat wet texture, similar to macadamia nuts
Almonds from the Agri-food cooperative from Relleu, are mainly dedicated to the elaboration of the traditional Christmas sweet from Spain: turrón. However, their almonds are also used for the elaboration of desserts, milk products ,etc
Turrón, or nougat, is the mass obtained from the marriage of cooked honey, almonds and egg whites. It’s origin it’s most likely Moorish.
Almond growers in the province of Alicante usually harvest almonds that are exported all over the world thanks to their hight quality.
