Oranges and mandarines from Valencia (Castellón)

This tour is highly recommeded for families with children, foodies and “first-time” visitors because we will discover the secrets and particularities of oranges, the most genuine fruit in the Valencia Region. The Valencia orange is considered unique because of its premium quality. This is posible thanks to the mild environmental factors given by our Mediterranean climate and considerable amounts of sunshine.
During our visit to the Agricultural Cooperative Real Export in Vila-real we will have a guided tour where we´ll learn the full process of harvest, recollection, selection and packaging of oranges and mandarines. This will give us a complete picture of how oranges are grown in Valencia and how many varieties we can enjoy in the region. Afterwords, we will move to the orange groves and we will taste them by picking the oranges ourselves directly from the tree.
Our next stop will be the nearby city of Onda, where we´ll walk on a guided tour around the Medieval town that has marked the history of the region from the 13th to the 19th century. We will see the old town and Castle: Almudín square, La Sangre church and the old Muslim quarter (Barrio de la Moreria).
To finish the tour we will enjoy together a traditional meal in Onda based on the regional gastronomy.
