Cooperativa Benihort (Benicarló)
Benihort, the Agri-food cooperative of Benicarló, counts with about 2.000 associates and has become a model for the world of agricultural cooperatives of the Valencian Region.
Apart from the traditional activities of fruit and vegetables processing, Benihort also produces olive oil and distributes different agricultural seed products.

The area of fruit and vegetable processing of Benihort overtakes the 25 million kilos produced, and, among them, a wide range of vegetables. One of the main products produced is the artichoke with Protected Designation of Origin, but are also important the production of lettuce, cauliflower, cabbage, watermelon etc.
Taula Supermercats Benihort is the name of the retail shop located in Benihort facilities and nowadays it has transformed into a big grocery store.

“Artichoke from Benicarló”
This excursion is unique because we will discover everything about a vegetable with a Protected Designation of Origin: the artichoke of Benicarló.
We will be welcomed by a local farmer who will explain us all the processes, the cares and the curiosities about this cultivation.
For lunch, we will eat a menu inspired by the artichoke, and to end the excursion, we will transfer to Vinaroz and will do a cultural walking tour in its historic city center.
Destination
Benicarló is located in the north coast of the Province of Castellón, in the county of BaixMaestrat. It’s found on the shore of Mediterranean Sea and it is surrounded by irrigated vegetable gardens which define the north and south borders with the towns of Vinaroz and Peñiscola. Thanks to the Artichoke Gastronomic Fair, the town of Benicarló welcomes thousands of tourists from all the parts of the World.
