Cooperativa Agrícola de Callosa d’en Sarrià

The agri-food cooperative of Callosa d´en Sarrià is one of the main producers and exporters in the world of the fruits called nísperos or loquats. They sell under the brand Ruchey and their loquats count with the Denomination of Origin Callosa d’en Sarrià. These fruits are sweet and juiciy and normally in season during the months of April, May and June. Generally enjoyed raw, but they can easily be made into jam or preserves. The Mediterranean weather is perfect to grow níspero tres that is why it started to be cultivated in Spain in the 19th C.
The agri-food cooperative of Callosa d´en Sarrià also produces other fruits like oranges, clemetines, lemons and avocados. Their annual production goes up to 40 million kg of vegetables.

“Nispero tour. Callosa d´en Sarrià”
This route will start with a visit to the agri-food cooperative of Callosa d’en Sarrià where we will learn all the cultivation procedures of its most important product the fruit called níspero or loquat. Later we will head to the fields to see the níspero trees and collect our own fruits ourselves. After that we will enjoy a walk around the natural area to see the Algar Waterfalls
We will finish the tour with a delicious meal based on the traditional gastronomy of the region.

It is very popular for the high quality of its nísperos or loquats with Designation of Origin. Callosa offers a beautiful landscape by the river Algar worth to walk around and enjoy its Waterfalls.
